Throwback Thursday 4

“Shoulder to the Wheel”

Saves the Day

Okay, if you read last week’s Throwback Thursday, you probably remember me saying that I’d be tackling Sechs Kies this week, but I think it’s better if I save them for later.

Today, we return to 90’s Emo.

Saves the Day is considered one of the top Emo bands of all time (once again, a Second Wave band). “Shoulder to the Wheel” is the single off of their sohopomore album Through Being Cool—regarded as their best album.

Though “Shoulder to the Wheel” sounds pretty damn Pop=Punk to me, this song is truly an emo anthem. It describes the euphoria of driving around with your friends at 1:00 A.M, screaming the lyrics to your favorite songs at the top of your lungs. It’s the feeling of being young, lost and confused, not sure where your life is going, but just moving forward anyway and trying not to think about it all.

If you’re like me, you know exactly what that feels like. Saves the Day definitely do.
